There are many simple ways to save water. One of the water points where you can easily and quickly save water are the faucets. An old leaky faucet can quickly account for thousands of liters of water wasted per year. Not only can you save water with old faucets, but you can also make newer faucets more sustainable. We would like to give you some tips to save water with your faucets. Both in the properties you manage, and at home. Don't forget to share these tips with the users of your properties.

  1. Aerators
By installing aerators, also known as perlators, you can save up to 50% water. An aerator helps you save water by adding air to the water coming out of the faucet. This makes the flow of water more powerful and efficient, without sacrificing comfort. In addition, an aerator can help with the taste of the water coming out of the faucet by filtering out any impurities.

  2. Brush your teeth, close the tap
Do you leave the tap running when you brush your teeth? Stop! You're wasting five to fifteen liters per minute. This is one of the easiest ways to save water. As soon as you turn off the tap, you'll save water immediately. You can also do this while washing dishes, washing hands, shaving, etc. It also saves energy, which is a nice bonus. Heating water costs a lot of energy, so your energy bill will also be positively affected.

  3. Smart mixer taps
Many people prefer single lever mixers due to their design. These faucets mix hot and cold water with one lever. Unfortunately, regular single-handle faucets are not the most sustainable option out there. This is because the faucet remains in the last position used. If it is set on hot instead of cold, water is heated immediately. Even if you then quickly set the faucet to colder. Once you're aware of this, you will see that it unintentionally happens a lot more often than you think. A solution for this is, for example, a faucet that will always start with cold water and thus does not immediately start heating water.

  4. Watch out for dripping faucets
A faucet that leaks just 10 drops per minute can cause nearly 2000 liters of water to be wasted annually. So, always make sure you close the faucet properly. Does the faucet still drip? Then make sure you repair the faucet yourself or have it repaired.
